Curriculum Check

Preschools or Operator HQs are required to submit their curriculum for checking before applying for SPARK validation. The curriculum check aims to ensure the quality and relevance of the preschool’s curriculum to cater to children’s holistic development, meets the diverse needs of children and promotes their learning and development through meaningful learning experiences.

The curriculum check will focus on the following:

• Alignment with EYDF and NEL framework;
• Progressiveness of learning and developmental outcomes and/or goals;
• Holistic development of children e.g. opportunities for them to develop the core values, social and emotional competencies, learning dispositions, as well as the knowledge, skills and dispositions across the learning and developmental areas; and
• Integration across different learning and developmental areas

There are two windows for submission of curriculum checks per year:

• 1 - 15 February
• 16 - 30 September

After meeting the initial curriculum check requirements, HQs / preschools must complete a year-end annual declaration to:

• Confirm there is no change to the current curriculum; or
• Indicate if any substantial changes have been made to the curriculum

If major changes are made to the curriculum, ECDA may request the updated curriculum documents for review. Re-submission is required when the changes impact items listed in the curriculum checklist.

For more details on the curriculum check, please refer to the “Application Guide for SPARK 2.0” available in the Centre Management System (CMS). For further clarifications on curriculum check, you may email your enquiries to curr_matters@ecda.gov.sg.
