SINGAPORE PRESCHOOL ACCREDITATION FRAMEWORK (SPARK 2.0)
Core Values
The five core values of SPARK continue to underpin SPARK 2.0. They are represented by four petals with a spark at the centre to signify that the development of every child is central to preschool quality.
Child our Focus: Children are joyful, curious, active and competent learners who develop best in a safe and nurturing environment. Their potential can be nurtured through developmentally appropriate, meaningful and experiential learning experiences that cater to their abilities, needs and interests.
Leadership with Vision: Leaders set the direction and tone for their preschools. To lead and inspire their staff towards realising the vision, leaders need to see beyond immediate concerns and issues, be cognizant of the changing landscape, and keep abreast of the latest trends and pedagogies in early childhood care and education.
Professionalism with impact: Educators are instrumental in shaping children's development and learning journey. As responsive facilitators and thoughtful planners, they craft and implement meaningful and integrated learning experiences that foster children's holistic development. Through regular reflective practices, they monitor, evaluate and refine their pedagogical practices whilst actively pursuing professional growth. Beyond the classroom, educators serve as collaborative partners, forging strong relationships with families and community stakeholders to enrich children's learning experiences and create a supportive educational ecosystem.
Innovation with Purpose: Preschool leaders and educators embrace changes and are innovative in their teaching approaches to help children acquire the necessary knowledge, skills and dispositions needed to prepare for future learning. They are responsive to changes in children’s profiles and developments when designing the preschools’ programmes and applying pedagogical approaches.
Partnership for Growth: Children’s learning and development are strongly influenced by their relationships with family members and the community. Preschool leaders and educators establish partnerships with parents and the community to enhance children’s well-being and holistic development.
