Meet Teacher Trenna!

Twenty-five year old Trenna always has a ready smile for the children and their parents. But behind her sweet demeanour, Trenna can be unyielding when it comes to quality classroom teaching and management. With 5 years of early childhood education training under her belt, Trenna hones her teaching skills and incorporates creative ideas into her classroom as an early childhood teacher at The Caterpillar's Cove. Through transforming recyclable materials into works of art and functional items, Trenna provides refreshing learning opportunities for young children and invites parents to participate actively in these learning journeys.

When asked how parents can partner teachers in the holistic development of children, Trenna shared that fostering trust and open communication are keys to a positive and lasting partnership. This is especially true when it comes to inculcating values such as respect to the children. Parents will need to model such values in the home to reinforce what has been taught in the centres.

"Of course, contributing to my collection of recyclable items, like toilet rolls or cans or plastic bottles, will not hurt either," she laughed.

Trenna is an ECDA Training Award recipient and graduated from Ngee Ann Polytechnic with a Diploma in Child Psychology and Early Education after pursuing Higher NITEC in Early Childhood Education at ITE. At our recent Tea Session for the ECDA Training Award graduants, Trenna provided tips and advice on starting well as a new early childhood educator. She also shared that having supportive colleagues, parents affirmation and seeing children's growth gave meaning to her work and made all the hard work worthwhile.
