NURTURING YOUNG MINDS: BUILDING STRONG FOUNDATIONS
Early childhood educators play an important role in creating quality experiences and enriching environments that can shape children’s physical, cognitive, language and social-emotional development. This lays strong foundations for the children right from the start which offer lasting benefits and optimise their potential in future.
ECDA held the Early Childhood Conference 2018 on 5 and 6 October 2018 at Suntec Singapore Convention and Exhibition Centre!
ENHANCING PROFESSIONALISM
This year, more than 1,500 EC educators attended our 2-day professional conference which had 2 keynote presentations, a panel discussion and workshops offering key insights on the latest research on brain development and developmentally -sensitive pedagogy.

EARLY CHILDHOOD EXHIBITION 2018
The Early Childhood Exhibition 2018 was as fun and enriching as ever due to the support of our various partners, preschools and volunteers! About 10,000 parents, children, and educators enjoyed the exciting array of educational activities and interactive performances at the exhibition.

A SPARK TO QUALITY
152 preschools were presented with the Singapore Preschool Accreditation Framework (SPARK) Certification from Ms Low Yen Ling, Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Education. Including these newly certified preschools, there are now 880 SPARK-certified preschools which is about 50% of all preschools in Singapore.

CELEBRATING ACHIEVEMENTS IN EARLY CHILDHOOD SECTOR
Mr Desmond Lee, Minister for Social and Family Development presented the ECDA Awards for Excellence in Early Childhood Development 2018 to 18 early childhood educators and preschools for their outstanding and promising contributions to curriculum, and teaching and innovative practices.

KEY ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR ECC 2018
Minister Desmond Lee announced new initiatives to raise the profile of early childhood educators and enhance the training and support for Mother Tongue Language (MTL) teaching in preschools. These initiatives build on efforts to transform the early childhood sector, strengthen the career prospects of its educators and enhance the provision of MTL teaching.
