Midcareer switch, Mother with child

Stepping back into society made me feel alive. After taking care of my child for a couple of years, I realised that it’s time for me to go back to a preschool. Being an infant educarer allowed me to use my skills effectively - it’s a job that will always be in demand.

Infant educarer

Fresh graduate, Diploma, graduate

The early years of a child’s life are critical for development. I feel a sense of fulfilment as I watch them grow, and gradually become independent. It heartens me when I see the joy on their faces when we go through the day making new discoveries.

Ms Nur Farhana Binte Abdul Razak
Infant educarer

Fresh graduate

My peers told me that an early childhood course would be challenging as I did not have prior training. But I love children so I persevered, and even took up the ECDA Training Award so that I can lighten the financial burden on my family. One day, I’ll make a positive difference in children’s lives, by becoming the best educator I can be.

Polytechnic student pursuing a Diploma in Early Childhood Studies

Midcareer switch, Enrichment, Outdoor learning

Making a mid-career switch has been a process of self-discovery. Although it was a daunting decision at the start, the more I understood about the ways to interact with children, the more I discovered my hidden strengths and abilities.

Tricia Soh, Former secondary school teacher
Preschool teacher

Midcareer switch, Male educator

Switching to the early childhood sector has been an enriching and dynamic experience. From a teacher, I progressed to become a senior teacher and embarked on the leadership track to be a principal. It has been a satisfying journey working with various stakeholders - fellow teachers, parents and community partners to provide every child a good start in life and to support the families I come into contact with. More importantly, I get to witness the joy that children get from learning about the world around them. If you are inspired to shape children as lifelong learners, become an Early Childhood Educator like me!
