    24 Early Childhood Leaders Appointed ECDA Fellows


    The Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA) has appointed a third term of ECDA Fellows, which includes 20 re-appointed ECDA Fellows and four newly appointed ECDA Fellows. These 24 pinnacle leaders will work closely with ECDA on quality improvement initiatives for the early childhood sector and contribute to the professional growth of the current and next generation of early childhood leaders.

    Charging of Former Director and Staff of Faith Educare Centres with Cheating for Fraudulent Childcare Subsidy Claims


    The Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA) is aware that the former director of Faith Educare childcare centres and two of her employees will be charged in court on 17 March 2021 for engaging in a conspiracy to cheat ECDA by making fraudulent claims under the Child Care Subsidies scheme between January and August 2016. Faith Educare is no longer in operation.

    25 Early Childhood Educators and Centres Recognised at ECDA Awards 2020 for their Professional Excellence


    Twenty-five (25) exemplary preschool educators and centres received the ECDA Awards for Excellence in Early Childhood Development at a virtual ceremony on 28 November 2020. The ECDA Awards highlight the professionalism of the early childhood sector, and the positive impact early childhood professionals have on young children’s development. The theme for this year’s award ceremony is “Unity in Purpose: Celebrating our Early Childhood Professionals”.

    More Families to Benefit from Lower Fee Caps at 324 Childcare Centres Appointed as Partner Operators


    At the National Day Rally 2019, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong announced that the Government will ramp up efforts to improve families’ access to affordable and quality preschools. By around 2025, 80 per cent of preschoolers can have a place in a government-supported preschool, up from about 50 per cent in 2019.

    At the Early Childhood Conference 2020 today, Minister for Social and Family Development Mr Masagos Zulkifli announced new initiatives to support our preschool professionals, children and families. These initiatives build on the Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA)’s continuing efforts to strengthen the development of EC educators, improve the quality of preschool programmes, and provide greater support for children with additional needs.

    Building a caring and inclusive home for all


    ​Over 53,000 children from 950 preschools collectively dedicated 1.5 million hours of community service projects this year, as part of the President’s Challenge ‘Start Small Dream Big’ (SSDB) movement, initiated by the Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA). This is the highest rate of participation since the movement started in 2015 with 150 preschools and 8,000 children.

    Vast Majority of Preschool Staff Tested Negative in Proactive Swabs; 12 Positive Cases Mostly from Past Infections


    Ahead of the phased reopening of preschools from 2 June 2020, all preschools and Early Intervention staff are undergoing a one-time swab test. These tests are part of a broader suite of precautionary measures that have been progressively stepped up in preschools since January 2020. The tests commenced on 15 May 2020 and are scheduled to complete by end-May 2020.
