    MORE THAN $13 MILLION INVESTED IN PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME TO SUPPORT EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATORS


    The Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA) appointed 456 early childhood (EC) educators, including EC leaders, into its Professional Development Programme (PDP) at the annual appointment ceremony hosted today by Minister of State for Social and Family Development, and Home Affairs, Ms Sun Xueling. Since the launch of PDP in 2016, ECDA has invested over $13 million to support over 2,200 EC educators in enhancing their competencies and uplifting the professional quality of the sector. ​

    OVER 75,000 PRESCHOOLERS TO CELEBRATE FAMILIES AND GIVE BACK TO COMMUNITY THROUGH ‘START SMALL DREAM BIG’ MOVEMENT


    The Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA) launched today the eighth edition of its President’s Challenge initiative, ‘Start Small Dream Big (SSDB)’. This year, over 75,000 children from close to 1,100 preschools will participate in meaningful projects that seek to benefit their community. This marks a significant growth from SSDB’s humble beginnings in 2015, when it attracted the participation of just 150 preschools and 8,000 children.

    RAISING QUALITY OF PRESCHOOLS AND MORE SUPPORT FOR CHILDREN FROM LOW-INCOME FAMILIES TO BE EXPANDED NATIONWIDE


    At the 2022 Committee of Supply (COS), the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) announced new initiatives to (i) raise the quality of early childhood professionals and programmes, and (ii) enhance support for children from low-income families. These initiatives build on continuing efforts to give every child a good start in life and to uplift the early childhood profession. More details are at Annex A​​​.

    Protecting Our Children From Covid-19 Through Vaccination


    Since the paediatric vaccination started on 27 December 2021, more than 6 in 10 of Primary 4 to 6 students in MOE primary schools have registered for vaccination.     Protecting Our Children from Covid-19 with Vaccination for 5 to 11-Year-Olds


    The Ministry of Education (MOE) and the Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA) will be working with the Ministry of Health (MOH) to extend the national vaccination programme to cover over 300,000 children aged 5 to 11, starting with the older children from 27 December 2021. The programme will be open to all children who are Singapore Citizens (SC), Permanent Residents (PR) and long-term pass holders (LTPH). Booking for vaccination appointments will start on 22 December 2021.

    Protecting Our Children from Covid-19 through Vaccination

    Expansion of ECDA Award to Recognise Inclusion and Innovation


    Twenty-three Early Childhood (EC) and Early Intervention (EI) professionals as well as centres were honoured at the 9th ECDA Awards for Excellence in Early Childhood Development, held virtually on 27 November 2021. Since 2013, this annual ceremony has been celebrating the accomplishments of EC educators and centres that have excelled in teaching and learning, and innovative practices.     Launch of Inclusive Support Programme (InSP) Pilot


    Following the recommendations of the Inclusive Preschool Workgroup (IPWG) in April 2021, the Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA) will pilot a new Inclusive Support Programme (InSP) in seven preschools, starting with the first preschool from October 2021. The InSP pilot seeks to strengthen inclusion and support for children with developmental needs within preschools, and is part of ECDA’s continued efforts to provide a good start for every child.     Minister for Social and Family Development Mr Masagos Zulkifli announced new initiatives to support early childhood (EC) educators, preschool operators and children at the Early Childhood Conference today. These initiatives build on the Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA)’s continuing efforts to improve the quality of preschools, strengthen the professional development of EC educators and enhance the provision of support and resources to give every child a good start.
